Mosquito Control In Salt Lake City

Protect Your Home From Mosquitoes With Jensen's Guaranteed Pest Control

Here in Salt Lake City, mosquitoes are more of a problem than you might think, given our hard winters and comparatively arid climate. Despite this, the fact is we have over 40 different types of mosquitoes in the state of Utah.

While our mosquito season is shorter than it would be if we were down south or back east, we still have several months when we have to deal with these pesky pests. Mosquito season usually begins in spring, with a peak in the months of June through August, before tapering off for the winter. So you should be especially vigilant for mosquito activity during this time.

All The Problems Mosquitoes Can Cause In Your Salt Lake Yard

Everybody knows mosquitoes are annoying. Mosquito bites itch, and you usually get them without knowing you've been bitten, meaning you just wind up scratching after the fact without being able to do anything to stop the bite from happening. Mosquitoes also buzz around your ears and your face and generally irritate you.

However, mosquitoes are a lot more than just annoying. In fact, you might be surprised to learn that mosquitoes are firmly at the top of the list of the most dangerous animals on Earth. This is because of the myriad of diseases they spread.

Fortunately for us in Utah, mosquitoes don't spread the deadliest disease they can: malaria. However, they do spread several other different diseases, some of which can be quite severe.

These include:

  • West Nile virus
  • St Louis encephalitis
  • Western equine encephalitis
  • Other forms of viral encephalitis

While getting a viral infection from a mosquito is rare in Utah, infections can be serious and life-threatening. Encephalitis can also lead to permanent brain damage. This is why it is so vital to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes.

We'll start your service by inspecting your yard to see where mosquitoes are breeding and if there are any breeding sites we can eliminate. This can help reduce the need for mosquito control products. We'll also discuss things you can do to help reduce mosquito activity in between our visits.

After the inspection, we'll perform our initial treatment. We target areas like lawns, trees, shrubs, covered decks, doors, and other areas where mosquitoes love to hang out, but we will be sure to treat your whole yard. We guarantee 90-95% mosquito reduction, and we'll come back as many times as it takes to live up to that.

Follow Up

Mosquito season runs from April to October, and this is when we'll perform follow-up treatments. After we drastically reduce or eliminate the existing mosquito population, we come back to ensure a new population cannot gain a foothold in your yard again. We'll come out to your property on a monthly basis to make sure that does not happen.

Frequently Asked Questions

No mosquito species migrate very far from the place they were born before breeding. This means if you have a yard full of mosquitoes, you probably have a breeding site nearby. Breeding sites are normally standing water sources, but some mosquito species can also breed in moist soil. This means you will have to look for drainage issues as well as standing water on your property.
